Mapping Emotional Landscapes
you are here: mapping emotional landscapes
A collaborative venture with map-maker, Stefano Casalegno, Ph.D. Associate Research Fellow, from the Environment and Sustainability Institute, (University of Exeter), Cornwall Campus.
Together, we are currently developing a community research project to chart the St. Michael’s Way walk in Cornwall, a 12 mile stretch from Lelant, St. Ives to St. Michael’s Mount forming part of the Pilgrim Route to Santiago, in colours. Each contour on the map will correspond to a specific colour that relates to the ancient chakra system, linking the body of the walker to the land in a unique way and designed as a meditation to connect our physical and emotional selves more deeply with our surroundings.
The title, you are here, refers to the message on community boards or way markers pointing out where you are positioned in relation to the environment. It is also a statement that has no past and no future. It represents the present and symbolizes your presence at any one moment, wherever you are in the landscape, journeying through it.
